More than 140 vehicles made their way to Beamish this weekend for the return of the popular Great North Steam Fair.
From Manchester 765 and Blackpool and Fleetwood Box 40 trams to a sole-surviving 1906 Morriss steam car and Model Tramway Exhibition, there was something for everyone at the Living Museum of the North.
Matt Ellis, keeper of transport at the museum, said: “It is excellent that we can work with other organisations to enhance our events and show off exhibits to a wider audience.
“A real highlight for steam enthusiasts is the River Irt, from the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, and Katie, courtesy of Ravenglass Railway Museum. They are the first 15-inch gauge locomotives to operate at the museum. Tram enthusiasts enjoy seeing tram 765 and Box 40 running at Beamish.”
The Great North Steam Fair is part of the Great North Festival of Transport, which also includes Horses at Work on April 27 and 28. Visit www.beamish.org.uk.
