THE FAMILY of a missing grandmother have issued an emotional plea for information as they prepare to spend their first Mother’s Day without her.

Naheed Khan has been missing since May 2018, with her last possible movements being in central Middlesbrough.

Now family members have released pictures to prompt people to come forward with information that may help them gain some closure.

Yesterday, a £10,000 reward was offered by Crimestoppers for information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspects in the murder of Naheed Khan.

Cleveland Police believe the 43-year-old has come to harm and are treating the investigation into her disappearance as a murder inquiry.

Since her disappearance, Naheed became a grandmother to nine-month-old Aria after her daughter gave birth to the baby girl last June.

Gazala Khan, Naheed’s mum, said: “Naheed is missed every day and on every family occasion, not just Mother’s Day. Nothing is the same or can ever be as happy without her.

“We will never get over her loss which is still very raw and time has not been a healer as we still don’t know what has happened to her or where she is.

“We as her family have not been able to give Naheed the dignity, respect and love to lay her to rest. We live with the constant sorrow of her loss and the painful speculation of a tragic outcome until this is resolved.”

Naheed has links in Stockton, Middlesbrough and Thornaby on Teesside. She is described as being of Asian appearance, of slim build and around 5ft 6ins tall, with long, dark hair.

Naheed’s daughter, Amber Khan, added: “My mother was my best friend and someone I always confided in. We did everything together. My mum was special and we shared such amazing times together.

“It devastates me that I shall be spending my first Mother's Day as a new mum without my own mum and it upsets me deeply that Aria is going to grow up not knowing or meeting her grandmother. It’s been almost a year since I last saw my mother, I wish I could see her or visit her or know where she is.

“The most painful part is someone out there knows where she is, I just wish they would come forward and help me and the rest of our family make some peace with the outcome. Our lives will never be the same again but moving on is impossible without any closure.”
