A JUDGE told a man to "stop whinging and grow up" when he blamed his doctor for him trying to break into a pharmacy.

Career criminal Norman Davies was spotted on CCTV "yanking and pulling" at the doors of Boots on Stockton High Street at 1.40am.

After being caught, he said his GP had stopped his main medication for a crippling back problem and was in so much pain.

Davies was told by Judge Sean Morris at Teesside Crown Court: "Stop blaming everybody else."

The 41-year-old replied from the dock, where he arrived with two bags ready for prison: "I'm not blaming no-one else."

Judge Morris imposed a two-year community order and six-month curfew, and told Davies: "Stop whinging and grow up."

Davies, of Leybourne Terrace, Stockton, who has 121 offences on his record, admitted attempted burglary.

His lawyer Kelleigh Lodge said: "His main medication was stopped, for a build-up of fluid on his spine which causes problems with his discs. He has severe back pain.

"He has been making significant progress on his suspended sentence."

Among his past convictions are two years for robbery in 2003 and two years for a second burglary in 2015.

In 2017, he was given a 38-month sentence for having a prohibited weapon – a CS gas cannister – assault occasioning actual bodily harm, burglary, attempted burglary and assaulting a police officer.

He was out on licence at the time of the attack on Boots.
