POP-UP musical concerts will be coming to a local town to bring isolated elderly people together.

Age UK North Yorkshire and Darlington will be holding its first musical concert at Bradbury House, Darlington, on Friday March 22.

The event is a partnership with the charity Music in Hospitals & Care (MiHC) and will see regular concerts held at the centre as a way to reach out to people who may have become isolated and lonely.

The three-year project is funded by the National Lottery Community Fund and will be launched with an inaugural concert.

The concert is open to anyone over 50 who will benenfit from participating in the social event.

Jess Ingham, Director North of MiHC said: “Our aim is to create joy through live music, to raise mood, boost feelings of wellbeing and to bring people together for a high-quality musical experience."

Patrick Blewitt, Registered care manager of Age UKNYD said: “ We are really pleased to have the opportunity to hold these pop up concerts and are looking forwards to a good turn out”
