A PRO-BREXIT march led by Nigel Farage is due to start in the North-East before the UK is due to withdraw from the European Union.

The Leave Means Leave campaign has announced a two-week protest walk from Sunderland to London.

The March To Leave will bear the slogan ‘Brexit Betrayal’ and will be led by the former UKIP leader as well as campaign founder Richard Tice and chairman John Longworth.

Mr Farage, who is backing the newly-formed Brexit Party, said: “The Westminster elite are in the process of betraying the British people over Brexit.

“All of us who want Britain to be a great country once again accept that we must be prepared to stand up for what we believe in and fight for our independence.”

The march will start on Saturday, March 16, in Sunderland, the first city to return a leave vote, and will travel the length of the country going through towns such as Hartlepool, Pontefract, Doncaster and Wellingborough.

It will end with a mass rally at Parliament Square in London on March 29.
