A PLAN to create an all-weather multi-games pitch in a town centre park has been recommended for approval.
The Richmondshire District Council scheme for Ronaldshay Park in Richmond, which will be decided by its planning committee, follows the authority receiving funding from developers of 32 houses on the former hockey pitch site off Reeth Road.
Along with the plans to refurbish the other play equipment within this park, the council says the proposals would make the play park a safe and more useable play area for all age ranges.
A council spokesman said the proposed pitch would be 31m by 22m, be surrounded by a 4m high fence and have football and basketball goals at either end of the pitch.
He said: “The provision will improve the facilities within the park for ball play, providing a firm surface for all year round use, with appropriate surface water drainage.”
The spokesman added the proposals would not give rise to any unacceptable increase in neighbour nuisance and would help preserve the Richmond Conservation Area.
