TRAINS between Darlington and York were severely delayed as emergency services dealt with an incident at 11.30am.
All lines on a stretch of the East Coast Main Line were blocked between Northallerton and Darlington.
Network Rail confirmed an incident took place at around 11.30am on Friday.

A spokesperson for Transpennine Express said at the time: "At the moment we're not able to run between Northallerton and Darlington. We are looking at replacement bus services.
"Our Middlesbrough services aren't affected and we encourage customers to check before they travel."
All lines have now reopened, but trains running between York and Darlington have been delayed for up to 90 minutes.
A spokesperson for train operator LNER said: "If you have been affected by the earlier heartbreaking incident, we can recommend two partners we work with - @samaritans and @theCALMzone - to speak to about this. Their contact details can be found on their Twitter accounts."
