EIGHT youngsters have flown the flag for the North-East at a water polo contest.
The Sedgefield Water Polo Club players were selected to represent the region at the Swim England Water Polo U14 boys and girls Inter Regional Championships 2018 in Walsall, West Midlands.
Anna Harrison, 13, Flo Toney Stevens, 14, Paige Taylor, 13, and Amelia Henderson, 12, first secured a bronze medal.
The following weekend, 13-year-olds Rohan Henderson, Dan Barron, Ryan Jay Griffiths, and Ben Alderson bagged a bronze medal while Ryan won the team’s Most Valuable Player award and top goal scorer for the December tournament.
A spokesperson said: “These results reflect the hard work and dedication shown by our club members.
"Following on from this, another six players have been selected to represent the North East U18s teams in February and we wish them the best of luck in their competitions.”
Sedgefield Water Polo Club are offering free sessions for eight weeks to anyone wanting to come try the sport.
