AN elderly man was helped by Good Samaritans after he was hit by a car.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision on Dixons Bank in Middlesbrough.
"The collision happened at around 10am on Tuesday 15th January on Dixons Bank at the entrance to Tesco service station on Marton Road, Middlesbrough," said a spokesperson for Cleveland Police.
"It involved a small white hatchback vehicle, possibly a Hyundai, and an elderly male pedestrian. The driver of the hatchback drove into the car park of the service station and used the cash point prior to leaving the scene.
"The 84-year-old pedestrian was helped into the store by members of the public. He attended hospital and was found to have suffered broken ribs, swelling and bruising to both knees and shins."
Any witnesses or anyone with information regarding the driver of the white hatchback is asked to contact PC Paul Dale from the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit on the non-emergency number 101, quoting event number 8396.
