A MAN has been left with serious facial injuries following a assault.
Durham Constabulary have confirmed the incident took place near the roundabout on Byerley Road in Shildon, County Durham, on Monday, January 7 at around 3pm.
Two men have been arrested, aged 21 and 48.
One remains in Darlington Memorial Hospital where he is undergoing treatment for his injuries and a second man has been released under police investigation.
Officers are also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a separate assault which took place a few minutes earlier.
Police say the second incident happened in nearby Adelaide Street, Shildon.
Anyone who may have witnessed either incident should call Durham Constabulary on 101 quoting crime reference number 256 of January 7.
Officers are also appealing for anyone with any CCTV footage from the area at the time of the incidents to come forward.
