VISITORS to a North-East science centre had do a double take today.

Skaters at the Life Science Centre, in Newcastle, were bowled over to see former England international cricketer Ryan Sidebottom join them on the ice rink.

Sidebottom visited the ice rink to practice his skating skills ahead of competing in the new series of ITV’S Dancing on Ice, which is set to return for another series in January 2019.

The sportsman was seen going ‘all out’’ to accommodate fans who wanted to have their picture taken with him.

The 40-year-old previously played cricket for Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire but retired in 2017 after taking more than 1,000 career wickets.

He also won the 2010 ICC World Twenty20 with England back in 2010.

Life Science Centre’s ice rink is open to the public to enjoy every day, excluding Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day, until February 24, 2019.

Tickets are £10 for adults, £9 for concessions, £7.50 for children aged five to seven and £3 for children aged under four.

A family ticket for two adults and tow children or one adult and three children is £27. For more information visit life.org.uk
