A MAN has been charged following an armed robbery at a post office.
The incident happened at the Post Office, in Temperance Terrace, Ushaw Moor, near Durham, at about 4.50pm on Wednesday.
A Durham Police spokesperson said: “A man entered the store and threatened the postmaster with a hammer.
“A 34-year-old man has been charged with attempted robbery, possession of an offensive weapon, breach of a restraining order and attempting to abscond from lawful custody.”
Detective Constable Laura Chisholm, of Durham CID said: “The staff were very brave during this incident, refusing to give the robber money."
