THERE were long delays on the A19 northbound on Wednesday morning after an accident involving several vehicles near the Portrack Interchange.
The incident happened on the A19 Fleet Bridge Road northbound between the A66 (Middlesbrough) and Haverton Hill Road (Portrack Interchange).
The road has now reopened but the accident caused several miles of queueing traffic on the A19 and long delays on surrounding roads.
Cleveland Police tweeted at the time of the incident: "Please avoid A19 northbound at the Portrack interchange, police are dealing with a collision involving up to six vehicles. Please use alternative routes where possible."
One motorist said: "I've been sat in traffic on the A174 from Marton to the junction with the A19 for about half an hour. There is two lanes of clogged traffic heading north and the A66 heading into Middlesbrough is also very busy, with traffic building up."
