TIMELINES charting the history of two of the North-East’s big three football teams have now been produced in London tube map format.

Michael Cochrane, who devised the sporting-related charts, in London Underground schematic map fashion, has now completed tube-style posters logging the development of both Newcastle United and Sunderland, from formation to the present day.

Equivalents have already been produced for several other clubs, as well as for Formula One motor racing circuits and English rugby.

Mr Cochrane, said: “The maps are based on the history of Newcastle United and Sunderland, decade by decade, and includes players, appearances/goals, managers, promotions and trophies.”

They are predominantly in the clubs’ respective black and white and red and white colours.

One highlights the Magpies’ early rise to prominence, the golden decade of FA Cup success in the 1950s, and round-by-round results on route to Fairs’ Cup glory in 1969.

Similarly, the Black Cats’ glorious period as, The Team of All Talents, in late Victorian times, their back-to-back league and cup successes in 1936 and ’37, and against-all-odds FA Cup run and Wembley victory in 1973, are all prominently featured.

Further information is available on the website www.tubeart.co.uk, which carries details of all Mr Cochrane’s charts and order details.
