A PERVERT who was found with more than seven hours of footage of children being sexually abused last night started a prison sentence.

Derek Willey admitted three counts of making indecent images of children and breaching a Sexual Offence Protection Order when he appeared at Teesside Crown Court today.

The court heard how the 57-year-old's home was raided after police discovered his mobile phone number connected to a twitter account where the images and videos were being uploaded.

Harry Hadfield, prosecuting, told the court how officers carried out the dawn raid in September last year and found a tablet hidden under a pile of clothing.

Willey, of Sadberge Street, Middlesbrough, had failed to disclose the device to his sex offender manager, something he was required to do under his indefinite order.

Officers found 61 of the most serious Category A images, 59 Category B images and 53 Category C images on the device as well as 51 Category A movies and 22 Category B movies.

Mr Hadfield said there was a total of seven hours, 53 minutes and 34 seconds of footage found which involved children as young as five being sexually penetrated.

He also told the court of Willey's previous convictions which included making indecent images of children in 2013.

Kelleigh Lodge, mitigating, said her client had pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity and admitted "he has a problem".

She said Willey had already completed a sexual offences treatments programme back in 2014 but that it would not be available again and that he accepted custody was "inevitable".

"He would have sought help if it was available for him," she said.

Judge Peter Armstrong said Willey was in breach of his order because he hid the tablet and said an aggravating factor was the fact that the children in the images and movies were so young.

Judge Armstrong handed Willey a ten-month prison sentence for breaching his order and having the Category A images and movies.

He added a further six months for the Category material and four months for the Category C material; both will run concurrently alongside it.

He also ordered the devices, images and movies to be forfeited and destroyed.
