ELEVEN Arches– the charity which produces open air show Kynren– will raise funds for The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal at its fireworks spectacular tonight.

The decision to support the charity follows the 2018 Kynren season which was dedicated to “In Remembrance”– with enhanced scenes to incorporate the 70th anniversary of the NHS, the 100th anniversary of the Armistice, the Suffragette movement and the centenary of the RAF.

The Poppy Appeal is also the chosen charity of the Chairman of Durham County Council.

Councillor John Lethbridge said: "The act of purchasing a poppy is, in itself, a token of our thanks to those who have given of our country.

"As these fireworks light up the sky over Bishop Auckland, indeed over our County at this time of year, let us enjoy the spectacle and remember those to whom we owe so much.”

Eleven Arches is itself a registered charity and all profits from the event will further fund its charitable objectives.

These include education and community development of the 1,000 cast and crew that deliver the show and its wider mission of regeneration in the area.

More than 6,000 of the 8,000 tickets available for the 30 minute musical fireworks show have been sold, for details visit kynren.com/fireworks.
