A CRASH between two cars in snowy conditions caused severe delays on the busy A692 during rush hour this morning.

Emergency services had to close the road at Hobson, County Durham, after a Nissan and Toyota collided near The Hobson pub at about 7.45am.

The road, which was closed in both directions to allow emergency services to remove the cars, was re-opened shortly after 9am.

Police said there no-one was injured apart from "some bruises".

Snow falling across the region

The road serves as the main commuter route between Consett and Newcastle.
