A PLEA has been issued to attract new volunteers to help support the essential work of the RNLI.

Hartlepool RNLI Enterprise Branch is looking for new team members to help fundraise for the charity that saves lives at sea and support the local lifeboat station and its volunteer crew members.

Branch chairman Beryl Sherry is hoping to bring in some younger volunteers.

She said: "As most of our current members are getting on in years, we need some keen younger helpers to join the branch and assist in our fundraising activities.

"We are looking for anyone who can spare a few hours a week to help us at events around the town."

Anyone interested in volunteering or needs further information call 07403-709240.
