A TEENAGER has been arrested after police pursued a car through Weardale.
The 17-year-old male, driving a Hyundai i10, was been arrested on suspicion of burglary, disqualified driving, aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving and failing to stop after the incident on Tuesday.
Roads policing officers from Durham Constabulary spotted the stolen car at Waskerley Way and pursued it in their BMW through Stanhope, Eastgate and Westgate before the driver abandoned the i10 at Brotherlee Bridge and made off on foot.
The youngster was chased across a river before being caught.
A police spokeswoman said the vehicle was stolen from a property in Taylor Road, Bishop Auckland in the early hours of Tuesday morning, October 23.
The suspect was taken into police custody.
