A POPULAR wooden sculpture in the grounds of a County Durham museum has been damaged after a suspected arson attack.
Barnard Castle Police are now appealing for witnesses after the BFG installation was set alight.
The incident is believed to have occurred sometime between October 4 and October 10 at The Bowes Museum, in Barnard Castle.
A police spokesman said: "The suspect entered the grounds of the museum and attempted to set on fire the BFG sculpture before making off."
Anyone with information should call Durham Constabulary on 101 and ask for PC Paul Walmsley, quoting incident number 185 of October 12.
