FAMILY historians can find out more about how to go about delving into their roots.
The talk at Durham County Record Office is aimed at people who know the basics of tracing their family tree and would like to explore further.
It will look at records kept by local churches, including poor relief records, churchwardens’ accounts and other sources that can provide family historians with clues about their ancestors.
The hour-long talk will be followed by an hour of browsing time, during which visitors can use microfilm and computer facilities, browse the library and explore the record office, with support from an archivist.
The session runs twice, from 6pm -8pm on Tuesday, October 16 and from 10am -12 noon on Thursday, October 18 and costs £10 per person.
