A DRIVER was taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash between a car and a van.
Police are now appealing for witnesses to the accident, which happened on the A689 at Howden-le-Wear, near Crook, County Durham, on Friday afternoon.
At 1.49pm, the driver of a Peugeot 206 travelling south along the A689 lost control on a bend as he entered the village, close to the junction with Plantation View, and collided with a Ford Transit heading in the opposite direction.
The driver of the Peugeot, a 22-year-old man, suffered serious head, shoulder and leg injuries and was taken to the University Hospital of North Durham by ambulance.
The driver of the Ford Transit, a 67-year-old man, was uninjured.
Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to ring PC James Horner at Durham police’s accident investigation unit on 101.
