CHILDREN'S favourite bedtime story ‘Stickman’ was beautifully brought to life when Scamp Theatre came to Middlesbrough with their latest lively production.
A trio of energetic, animated performers did a tremendous job, not only in bringing this wonderful story to life, but in keeping the very young audience entertained from start to finish.
With a mix of fun, humour and storytelling, they told the touching tale of how Stickman leaves the family tree and his wife and three children to go for a jog.
However, from being a stick for a dog, stick for a nest, used in a sandcastle and eventually ending up in a fire grate, the team from Scamp Theatre touchingly told of his epic journey back home.
The two men and one-woman trio did everything, from narrating the story and creating the music, to playing each character and seamlessly going through numerous costume/prop changes without so much as missing a beat.
They each had an amazing singing voice, too.
They only had a simple set, but they used imagination, clever props and originality to create everything from snow, sand, water, swans, and Santa’s sleigh to make sure the young audience was carried flawlessly through every scene.
And with a fair smattering of audience participation thrown in for good measure, it was a big hit with the wide-eyed crowd.
In short, it was a fab show. Schools, watch out for Scamp Theatre’s return.
