HORDES of young dancers put their best foot forward to impress judges at a dance competition.

The event, held at Longfield Academy in Darlington, ran throughout the weekend and saw more than 100 children from as young as three-years-old to 15 take to the stage.

The competition was fierce as the event was an All England Qualifier, meaning that winning dancers can go on and compete at regional dance competitions.

Youngsters performed a range of styles either in groups or solo in front of adjudicator Doreen Senior.

The classes included classical ballet, modern, tap, song and dance, Greek and acrobatics.

The event was organised by the Darlington Festival for Performing Arts and its publicity officer Ann Clarke said: “It has gone very well.

“It is popular with the parents who like to come along and watch.”
