A 23-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested on suspicion of a rape alleged to have taken place in the early hours.
A police cordon has been set up on a residential street in Redcar town centre following the incident reported on Tuesday morning.
Cleveland Police have confirmed more officers have been sent to the Westmorland Road area of the town.
A spokeswoman for the force said: “A cordon has been put in place whilst enquiries continue and we appreciate local residents’ co-operation at this time.
“Extra patrols remain in the area and anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on via 101 quoting event number 181371.”
