DEDICATED volunteers at the Ripon Museums Trust have scooped a national award.
The team was awarded the ‘Volunteers for Museum Learning’ prize in recognition of their tireless work.
They were praised for their hands-on and innovative family learning programme, which also led to the Workhouse Museum being chosen as one the twelve top family friendly museums in the country by readers of the Guardian newspaper in 2017.
Representatives from Ripon Museums travelled to the British Museum in London to receive the award at a special ceremony.
Carrie Philip, learning and outreach manager, said: “I am delighted that the work of our family learning team has been recognized by such a prestigious award.
“They give so much in so many ways and it is their skill, enthusiasm and knowledge that makes our trio of Ripon Museums so engaging and informative for our visitors.”
The aim of the ‘Volunteers for Museum Learning’ award is to recognise volunteers who work directly with museum visitors in any capacity.
