A FOOD festival offering a range of delectable delights including street food, traditional jams, British cheeses and produce from across the region will open in Darlington in October.

A one-day event will mark World Food Day on Saturday, October 13, with Darlington town centre hosting food and drink traders following the success of Darlo Dines Out in May and the continental market.

The festival has been organised by Darlington Indoor Market owners, Market Asset Management (MAM), who are responding to calls for more events such as Darlo Dines Out.

Assistant manager, Alexandra Nicholson, said “Street Food is an exciting trend and it was great to see how many people of came down to our last event.

“We are excited about the variety of traders coming to join us for World Food Day, it’s really something to look forward to in the period between summer and the Christmas season, and we hope the people of Darlington come down and enjoy it.

“For any traders interested in future events at Darlington, please check our online booking platform at goodlocalevents.com”

Traders and stallholders already signed up to the one-day food festival including The Chilli Jam Man, The Great British Cheese Company, Cossack Cuisine, Blueberry Hill Preserves, Bubble Bar and Love Hog Roast.

A spokeswoman for MAM said: “The overwhelming feedback from the May event was that the people of Darlington wanted more events like Darlo Dines Out, which was the flagship event for the new market operators.

“World Food Day will capture the same spirit of celebration of all things food, with a selection of hot food, produce and drinks.”
