A CHILD was rescued after falling from rocks on Wednesday night.

Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team was called out to the Eston Hills, near Middlesbrough, close to the England flag on the Nab, to respond to reports of an injured 12-year-old child.

Volunteers from the team despatched two Land Rover ambulances to the hills where the boy was quickly located, treated for his lower leg injury and given pain relief.

He was then carried by stretcher back to the Land Rovers, at the telecommunications masts and driven down to the roadside where he was handed over to paramedics for further assessment.

A Mountain Rescue spokesman said: “The incident, which started in daylight, soon turned into a headtorch illuminated extraction as darkness fell with the Tees Valley lights blinking far below.
