FOUNTAINS Abbey and Studley Royal have worked with artist Shane Green to create a wooden sculpture trail to bring to life the story of the nativity this Christmas.
The sculptures have been carved from fallen oak trees using a chainsaw, an unusual technique the Otley-based artist learnt in North America.
The sculptures will be dotted around the landscape of Fountains Abbey, leading families to explore the grounds and meet kings, angels and perhaps even baby Jesus on the way.
The trail will be on at the National Trust site near Ripon from November 24 through to January 7, 2019 and is one of several Christmas events planned including choirs and festive floristry workshops.
