Business lunch

LEADERSHIP is the latest topic on the menu at Northallerton’s lunch break seminar on October 4. Led by David Kemp from Axio Developments, participants will leave with the knowledge to implement changes that will have a positive impact on their business performance. Combine fire

FIRE engines from Richmond, Northallerton and Darlington were called to deal with a combine harvester ablaze on Gatherley Road, Brompton-on-Swale. It caught fire at around 5.50pm on Monday night. Fire crews wearing breathing apparatus battled the flames using hose reel jets and a main 45mm jet. The combine suffered major damage in the fire believed to have been caused by a hydraulic and diesel leak.

Charity coffee

COFFEE mornings are taking place on Friday as part of Macmillan Cancer Support’s ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’ campaign. Events in Thirsk include a coffee morning, cake stall and raffle at Gillings Court Common Room from 10.30am. In Northallerton, the Forum on Bullamoor Road will serve home baked cakes, scones, biscuits and more from 10am all in aid of Macmillan.

Church concert

STRING quartet The Sacconis and Friends will perform at St Oswald’s Church, Sowerby, at 7.30pm this Friday, September 28. Tickets are £18 in advance from 01845-518187 or White Rose Books in Thirsk, or £19 on the door.

Anniversary

ZION United Reformed Church in Northallerton is celebrating its 200th anniversary early next year and is organising a series of special events. These will include an exhibition of photographs relevant to the church’s history and members are appealing to loan items from people who have images or memorabilia appropriate for the exhibition.
