POLICE are warning people not to respond to a scam letter telling people they have won the lottery.
Durham Police says it is aware of a scam letter being circulated in the area.
The letter claims to be from the international postcode online lottery.
A spokesperson said: "This letter informs you that you have won a large amount of tax-free cash and invites you to contact a telephone number for processing and remittance of your 'winnings'.
"We strongly advise any recipients of this letter not to contact or reply to this as it is a scam mail and could lead to loss of personal data or financial information."
