RAIL passengers travelling between Darlington and Newcastle have been warned to expect delays due to on-going engineering works.
Trains are having to run at a reduced speed between the two locations due to engineering work not being completed on time, a spokesperson for London North Eastern Railway (formerly Virgin Trains East Coast) confirmed.
In a statement on Twitter, they said: "Due to engineering works not being finished on time between Darlington and Newcastle, trains have to run at reduced speed on the Northbound line.
"Train services running through these stations may be delayed until the end of the day."
Trains are also currently delated between York and Darlington due to a points failure.
Disruption is expected until 8am.
