ORCHESTRAL pop band The Divine Comedy will help ring in 2019 at a North venue.
Sage Gateshead has announced details of its New Year's Eve party, featuring the celebrated Northern Irish act and special guests.
The band, known in part for being responsible for the themes from Father Ted and The IT Crowd, found fame in the nineties with a string of hits including National Express and Something for the Weekend.
Frontman Neil Hannon has released 11 studio albums as part of The Divine Comedy, as well as two albums with his cricket themed musical side project The Duckworth Lewis Method.
He has also composed a short opera, a concerto and a musical theatre version of Arthur Ransome’s Swallows and Amazons. He is currently working on a stage musical based on Father Ted and a new Divine Comedy album, due for release in 2019.
Audiences at the Sage Gateshead will get a welcome drink, four-course dinner and a midnight drink. The party starts at 8.30pm. Tickets starting from £38.20 go on sale on Friday, at sagegateshead.com
