PRISONERS caused a headache to staff as they climbed onto netting in Durham.
Four men in custody at HMP Durham are understood to have climbed on the netting on Wednesday.
A spokesman for the Prison Officers Association (POA), the trade union for jail staff, said the four prisoners were on the netting in C-Wing and were "causing a nuisance of themselves".
It is understood one member of staff received medical treatment.
A Prison Service spokesperson confirmed staff had successfully resolved what was described as " a minor incident" at HMP Durham this afternoon.
It comes following demonstrations at the prison and across the region on Friday.
About 50 members of the POA started the action to highlight concerns over assaults and safety.
The Prison Service spokesperson added: “We do not tolerate indiscipline that threatens other prisoners and staff and those involved will be punished.
“Over the last two years, we’ve recruited 3,500 additional officers and we’re rolling out body worn cameras, ‘police-style’ handcuffs and restraints, and trialling PAVA incapacitant spray to ensure they and their more experienced colleagues can do their jobs safely.”
