A 64-YEAR-OLD woman is critically ill after an incident at a house.
At 5am on Saturday, police received a report that a woman at an address on Hollybush Avenue in Ingleby Barwick had suffered a serious head injury.
"The woman, who is 64 years old, was taken to James Cook University Hospital. She remains there in a ‘critical’ condition," said a Cleveland Police spokeswoman.
"A 67-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and he currently remains in police custody.
"Enquiries are ongoing and police would appeal for anyone with information to call 101."
Cleveland Police say they will be making a referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) due to previous contact with the parties involved in the incident.
