A TEENAGER from County Durham was the top scorer with his Team GB side at a water polo championships in Belarus.
John Pratt, of Coxhoe, played with the Great British U19s squad LEN U19 Men’s Water Polo Championship in Minsk this month.
The 19-year-old, who is a member of Sedgefield Water Polo Club, secured eight goals in the tournament
And despite losing, it was the first time in a decade a GB team had earned a place at the contest.
A Sedgefield Water Polo Club spokesperson said: “What must be remembered is that to even lose this competition, the team still had to make it there in the first place, which is no mean feat.”
Speaking of John’s efforts in the thirteen-strong squad, they added: “He continuously played with determination, positivity, respect, unparalleled game awareness and pride upon representing his country at such a high level.
“It must be said that he thoroughly deserved and played up to the opportunity he was given and reminded everyone of his value in the squad.”
