A TALENTED boxer is aiming to take on the best in the world.

Michael Webster is aiming to fulfil his ambition of becoming a professional boxer after 13 years as an amateur where he won a number of titles and medals.

The 25-year-old, of South Bank, Teesside, is being supported in his quest by Teesside Recycling firm Scott Bros.

As a ten-time winner of the North East area Title, the boxer is also a national cruiserweight champion and recently won bronze medal in the Elite championships (ABA’s) in the Final. His achievements have led to him being selected for the Great Britain squad.

Having most recently boxed in the amateur heavyweight division, Michael is aiming to enter the professional sport as a cruiserweight.

Securing sponsorship is an essential part of his professional boxing ambitions to support his training and his young family.

He said : “I am really grateful to Scott Bros. Generating sponsorship is really important to ensure I can compete professionally, but it can be as tough as any opponent I have faced in the ring.

"The help I get from friends, family and local businesses like Scott Bros is so valuable to me and I hope I can continue to do them proud when I step through the ropes as a professional boxer.”

Peter Scott, Transport Manager at Scott Bros, said: “Scott Bros has a strong traditional of supporting local sport and talented individuals. Michael is an impressive boxer who has worked hard on the amateur circuit and is ready to take the next step by becoming a professional.

"We are proud to give our backing to Michael and look forward to following on his future professional career.”
