Carer meeting

HAMBLETON and Richmondshire Carers Centre hold a special carers meeting in Northallerton on the second Monday of each month at 10am in the upstairs cafe at Barkers. The event is for people who look after someone who is ill, disabled or elderly enabling them to meet other carers in a similar situation. The meeting starts at 10am call 01609-780872 for information.

Family history

A BEGINNERS’ Family History Course will be run by North Yorkshire’s County Record Office on Saturday, September 29 at The Globe community library in Stokesley. The course runs from 10am until 3pm. Tickets are £12 each, which are available in advance from the library. Participants need to bring their own lunch.

Art exhibition

A GROUP of four artists are holding an exhibition at The Station, Richmond, until September 26. Two Plus Two is an exhibition by Margaret Weavill, Phyll Bryning, Mike Swinney and Deryck Simpson, who use oil, acrylic, watercolour and pastel. The exhibition includes landscape, the natural world and animals.

Hockey coffee

THE annual sale and coffee morning organised by Northallerton Hockey Club will take place on Saturday, September 15 from 9am to 12pm in Northallerton Town Hall. There will be tea, coffee and bacon butties. Stalls will include cakes, bric-a-brac and books, and there will be tombolas for adults and children.

Defibrillator

BEDALE Town Council is hoping to instal a defibrillator at Bedale Hall in collaboration with the building's management group after plans to put one in a former telephone kiosk taken over by the council had to be abandoned because of extra costs. Installation will be around £1,500.

Gutter fire

FIRE crews from Leyburn, Richmond and Colburn were called to a fire in the guttering of a residential property in Leyburn. The crews were called at 5.44pm on Monday evening but found that the fire was out.
