A MAN has appeared in court accused of grievous bodily harm following an incident at the weekend.
Nathan Robbie Buckland, of Lumley Close, Newton Aycliffe, appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Monday to face a charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
The charge relates to an incident in which a 31–year-old man was assaulted near The Roundhouse pub, in Newton Aycliffe town centre, in the early hours of Saturday.
The case was adjourned to Durham Crown Court on Friday, October 12 and the 24-year-old was remanded into custody until his next court appearance.
The victim remains in hospital with serious injuries.
Detectives continue to follow up a number of inquiries including examining CCTV footage from the area.
- A spokesperson for Durham police said officers are still appealing for witnesses and anyone with information, including dashcam footage recorded in the area early on Saturday, is asked to call Bishop Auckland CID on 101, quoting incident 0046 of September 8.
