CROWDS have turned out today for the 177th Stanhope Show in celebration of agricultural and country life.
The show has been held every year since 1834 with the exception of the war years and during the foot-and-mouth outbreak.
Visitors are being treated to entertainment, spectacle and fun with something for everyone .
General Secretary Lisa Johnstone said: "This is my first year as general secretary so I'm really excited. It's going to be a really enjoyable event.
"I'm delighted to see it's only early and already we've got lots of people coming in, the activities are great we've even got the Knights of Nottingham, there's just so much going on."
The classes and attractions are being held in the main arena which nestles amongst the magnificent Weardale fells, providing a stunning backdrop for the show.
Tickets for the event are being sold on the door.
