RAIN and wind failed to dampen spirits at Northallerton’s first Arts and Antiques Fair.
More than 30 stall-holders from all over the North showcased their talents at the weekend with beautiful paintings, bespoke hand-made jewellery and delicately-crafted glassware.
There was also a fascinating range of antiques on show for visitors to the High Street.
First prize in the art competition went to Malcolm Barker, a farmer from Scruton, who was presented with a silver cup by the Mayor of Northallerton, Councillor John Forrest.
A talented artist, Mr Barker impressed with an oil painting of Penhill, near Leyburn.
He said: “I’m absolutely thrilled because this is the first time I have entered a competition like this,” he said.
The event was supported by Northallerton Town Council and the Joe Cornish Gallery.
The Arts and Antiques Fair rounded off a successful year of town-centre events organised by Northallerton Business Improvement District, who also laid on the Home Front Wartime Weekend and the Classic Car Show.
