A WOMAN has reported being sexually assaulted by a stranger in an alley.
North Yorkshire Police are investigating the incident that happened between 11pm and 11.30pm on Monday, August 13, when the man inappropriately touched the woman before she could leave the alleyway.
The sexual assault in the alley between Nicholas Street and Milton Street in York has sparked a police appeal for witnesses or information in a bid to trace the man involved.
He is described as a white man, around 6ft tall and of medium build with a grey beard. He was wearing a dark blue or black T-short and grey tracksuit bottoms.
He spoke with an accent local to the region.
