A NORTH-EAST town's heritage gems are to open their doors to the public next month.
History enthusiasts are to lead guided tours of Darlington landmarks including the Crown Street Library, St Cuthberts Church and the Town Hall.
The events are part of the Heritage Open Days scheme, which aims to introduce member of the public to their areas finest buildings.
The tour of the l885 library, including access to some of the basement areas not normally open to the public, takes place from September 6 to 9.
The visit takes in the original Victorian building and the more recent sections which were added in 1933.

Entry is free for all events.
On September 6 the Town Hall will be open to the public for a guided tour including the council chamber and mayor's parlour. It will also include viewing of the mayor's chains, civic regalia and silver collection. The tour should be pre-booked on 01325-388262.
