A CELEBRATION of Asian culture is set to bring a splash of colour to Middlesbrough this weekend.
The Middlesbrough Mela, which takes place in its original venue of Albert Park, brings together a mix of music, performances, food, family fun, an eclectic shopping bazaar and funfair.
Across the two days music and dance performances promise everything from Bengali to Bollywood and Fusion to Urban.
Naveed Hussain, chair of the Mela Committee said: “We’re on the official countdown to this year’s Mela now and we can't wait to celebrate 28 years in Middlesbrough this weekend.”
Families can also enjoy a wide range of activities including decorating your very own Mela bag, creating a dreamcatcher, storytelling sessions and Dhol drumming with Apollo Arts.
There are also family games available for all, arts and crafts and park performances from street entertainers.
The event takes place from noon until late on Saturday and Sunday, August 11 and 12.
