RESIDENTS in Spennymoor and Ferryhill are being reminded to make sure they lock their windows and doors after reports of vehicles being stolen whilst parked on their own driveways.
Officers say the offenders are carrying out "two in one" burglaries" where offenders enter victims' homes and take the vehicle keys before driving off in the vehicle. A Police spokesman said: "Entry into the homes have not been forced but rather the offenders 'trying out' insecure doors and windows. We appreciate that this has been a long hot summer and due to this many people are sleeping with windows open, but we kindly request to remember to lock all doors and windows and place your vehicle keys away from any easy access." If you have any information call the police on 101.
