A YOUNG cyclist has died following a crash with a car on a North Yorkshire road.

Snaith teenager Kedel Bartlett was left severely injured after the collision, which happened outside the Eggborough Power Station near Selby on Monday, July 16.

The 15-year-old was on a white BMX-style pedal bike and travelling with another cyclist when the crash, which involved a black Volkswagen Passat, happened at around 9.15pm.

He was airlifted to hospital but later died from his injuries, with a spokesman for North Yorkshire Police confirming the youngster’s death yesterday.

The spokesman added: “Specially trained officers are supporting Kedel’s family at this extremely difficult time.

“A file has been prepared for the coroner and officers are continuing to appeal for information about the incident.”

The driver of the Volkswagen, a man in his 30s, is believed to have been uninjured as a result of the crash.
