VISITORS at one of the North-East’s top tourist attractions can get involved with explosive experiments, suffragette marches, Home Guard drills and solving a murder mystery this summer.
Beamish Museum, near Stanley in County Durham, is hosting a variety of special events and activities until the end of August.
Visitors will be able to try traditional games like croquet, have a go at making proggy mats, try on Georgian costumes and join in with music hall rehearsals.
Other events include trying to find out who murdered Joe the Quilter at the museum’s newest exhibition and taking part in a suffragette march and finding out more about the early days of the NHS.
Jonathan Blackburn, engagement and participation team assistant, said: “This year’s summer of fun has something for everyone, from singing, dancing and performing on Melodious Mondays to becoming a detective and trying to work out who killed Joe the Quilter on Sleuthing Sundays – there really is something fun for all the family to enjoy.”
Durham County Cricket Club will also be running cricket sessions while there will be a chance to have a go at football skills with the Newcastle United Foundation on the Events Field.
