A MAN was taken to hospital after a suspected stabbing during a large brawl in the middle of a street.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said officers responded to reports of around ten people fighting on Clavering Road, in Swalwell, Gateshead at around 8.30pm on Sunday.
The spokesman added: "Emergency services attended and a 39-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries that were consistent with a stabbing.
"Everyone else involved in the incident had fled the area."
Detectives are carrying out a number of inquiries and have already spoken to a number of people in the area.
They are now appealing for anyone who hasn’t spoken to police to call Northumbria Police on 101.
