A NURSE who devoted more than 30 years to the NHS was among care home residents celebrating the health service's 70th anniversary.
Sheila Bradley, 87, handed out goodie bags to North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust staff during a celebratory event staged at The Beeches in Stockton, where she now lives.
Ms Bradley, who was a NHS mental health nurse for over three decades, is one of a number of former NHS workers now living at the home.
She said: "I really enjoyed celebrating the 70th anniversary of the NHS with everyone.
“One of my favourite memories as a nurse was when I used to visit the children with Down’s syndrome, as they were always so loving and used to like to give cuddles.”
To mark the milestone anniversary, the home invited NHS workers to enjoy a buffet, with manager Helen Wood saying: "We wanted to say a little thank you and show our appreciation for all our local health service workers do for The Beeches and the care they provide.”
