FORMER steelworkers in the region are being sought to gather their memories of life in the steel industry.
The Year of Steel exhibition team is offering another chance for people to tell their steel stories on June 30.
It follows a successful roadshow in April which captured more than 25 stories and several donations of industry-related objects.
Councillor Carl Quartermain, cabinet member for tourism, culture and communication at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, said: “The Year of Steel exhibition aims to preserve the history of this incredibly important industry as a recorded legacy for future generations. The first Steel Stories Roadshow was a terrific success but we want even more stories about the steel industry.
“What was it like working in the mills? What kind of friendships were struck up, the practical jokes, the hard work, how did it feel to walk out the mill after a long shift?”
The event is held at Kirkleatham Museum, near Redcar, on Saturday, June 30 from 11am – 2pm.
